The management of The Northside Journal announced today that the weekly publication as been sold to an un-disclosed party. Negotiations have been underway for the sale of the paper since September of 2007. 

   The publication has accepted an offer from a media group that required a confidentiality agreement as a condition of the sale. An announcement from the new owner group is expected soon.

   The paper had received recognition as the fastest growing weekly newspaper in the state for the years 2005 and 2006 based on subscription and rack sales. At the time of sale, The Northside Journal had a circulation of 4,300 in the North Rapides and South Grant areas.

   The Northside Journal also received national recognition for their coverage of the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the escape of convicted murderer Richard McNair and their expose’ of the political ties between Kathleen Blanco, Senator Mary Landrieu and pornographer Larry Flint.
